Welcome to Bluestem Ranch Products and Services LLC. I'm John Bauer, and together with my wife Linsey and our children—Mason, Leah, Taryn, and Adam—we are grateful you are here.

Linsey and I both grew up around agriculture. Her dad farmed and still ranches, and my dad farmed as well. Despite those roots, neither of us originally planned to make a career in agriculture—let alone operate our own farm business. We both began our professional lives outside of ag and, interestingly, eventually found our way to careers with the USDA. I spent nearly 14 years working for the Natural Resources Conservation Service in a variety of roles. Linsey works for the Farm Service Agency.
Over time, we felt a growing pull back to the land and a desire to provide people with delicious, nutrient-dense food produced the right way. In 2025, that calling led me to step into ranching full time. Over the past decade, I have carefully built livestock genetics suited to a regenerative ranching model—one in which ruminant animals must thrive on forage alone.

On our ranch, livestock are rotated regularly to fresh pasture, becoming well adapted to new scenery and diverse forages. Depending on the season and species, rotations may happen multiple times per day or as slowly as once a week. Our cattle and sheep are never propped up with grain, added hormones, or unnecessary medications. The only supplement they receive is a free-choice, buffet-style mineral, allowing them to select what their bodies need. Our chickens and pigs are also rotated onto fresh grass and receive a non-GMO ration of barley, peas, and oats.
These management practices have led to measurable improvements in the health of our animals, plants, and soils. By prioritizing the ecological health of the ranch, we are able to produce food that is far superior in flavor, texture, and nutrient density compared to what is typically found in big-box stores.
We believe you deserve the very best, which is why every decision we make on our ranch is guided by your health in mind. Our doors are always open—if you’d like to see where your food comes from and how it’s raised, we invite you to stop by and take a look around.
